The military high command has declared Bello Turji, a notorious terrorist leader who recently threatened attacks on Zamfara State communities unless his brother and other detainees are freed, as a “dead man walking.”
The military also dismissed claims disputing the precision bombing of terrorist enclaves in Lakurawa, which reportedly killed several terrorists and their collaborators, branding such assertions as “terrorist propaganda.”
Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, stated, “From January to December 31, 2024, over 1,000 terrorist leaders, commanders, and their replacements have been eliminated in our operations. A similar fate awaits others, including Bello Turji.”
He continued, “Bello Turji is merely a dead man walking. It would be insulting to engage in words with a terrorist. Many before him boasted of overpowering security forces, yet they were eliminated. The same will happen to him and others like him.”
General Buba added, “We have buried many on the battlefield. For those remaining, including Turji, their end is near.”
Addressing doubts about the Christmas Day bombing of Lakurawa terrorist enclaves, General Buba said, “The first casualty of war is the truth. It’s no surprise that terrorists and their collaborators spread false narratives. Don’t fall for terrorist propaganda. We have destroyed their ammunition and logistics dumps, and they are desperate.”
He concluded by urging Nigerians to support the military’s efforts, calling it “a Nigerian war for Nigerians.”
