Millions of Users Worried Over WhatsApp Outage (News Central TV)

WhatsApp, the popular instant communication app owned by Meta that is used by many for quick messaging is reportedly facing an issue. The Social messaging tool has been reported to be down by users around the world. Several users in Nigeria, Kenya, and some countries in Asia are currently unable to send and receive messages.

Outage detection website DownDetector confirms that WhatsApp is not working for thousands of users.

News Central confirms that the outage is affecting both personal chats as well as group chats.  The heat-map shows that for the most part, it seems impossible to send a message on WhatsApp groups, as well as personal chats.

Users are complaining that their messages are not getting delivered. Even when the messages are delivered, the app fails to highlight the delivery status.

Meta has responded to the outage. The Meta company spokesperson said, “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble sending messages and we’re working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible.”

Users are even complaining about issues with the calling feature on the App. The app is not going past the ‘calling’ phase to the ringing phase.
