Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) repelled a night attack in Kirawa, Cameroon, on Monday, November 25, 2024.
Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, the Chief Military Information Officer, stated in an official press release.
The statement highlighted that troops operating under Sector One in Mora exhibited remarkable vigilance and combat readiness during a coordinated night assault by ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists.
“The attack occurred under the cover of darkness as terrorists attempted to overrun the MNJTF’s tactical outpost in Kirawa. The alert troops quickly identified the approaching threat and engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle. The troops’ swift and decisive response resulted in the elimination of 2 terrorists, while others were forced to retreat, sustaining gunshot wounds.
“Consolidating on the victory, own troops further conducted a thorough sweep of the area to ensure the security of their position. During the clearance operation, they recovered a grenade and an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), preventing potential future threats.”
The force stated that it would continue its fight to maintain peace and stability in the Lake Chad Region.
