Mohamed Salah breaks Liverpool’s record for most EPL away goals after the Reds’ defeat to Manchester City. When Liverpool took a 1-0 lead over Manchester City on Saturday, Mo Salah established a new club record as his goal in the 17th minute at the Etihad Stadium was his 56th away goal in the Premier League.
He now has more away goals for Liverpool in the Premier League than any other player. Salah earlier shared the record with Michael Owen with 55 goals.
Diogo Jota set up Saturday’s record-breaking strike after breaking through Manchester City’s offside trap. Manuel Akanji stepped up too late, keeping Jota onside as he ran onto a Trent Alexander-Arnold through ball.
Akanji raced back to make amends for his error, and he was able to prevent Jota from scoring. However, Jota was able to direct the ball into the path of Salah, who scored from 15 yards.
Salah, on the other hand, did not celebrate when the final whistle blew. City came back to defeat the Reds 4-1, with goals from Julian Alvarez, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, and Jack Grealish.
