Mo Salah retains African footballer of the year award

His accomplishments include: an astonishing record of 44 goals for Liverpool FC 2017-18; earning the Premier League Golden Boot with 32 goals; winning BBC African Footballer of the year 2018; and now, Mohamed Salah Hamed Mahrous Ghaly of Egypt has emerged the African player of the year for the second time at the just concluded Confederation of African Football Award in Dakar, Senegal beating his team mate – Sadio Mané.

Salah also becomes the first player since Nigerian Jay-Jay Okocha to win the BBC Africa Footballer of the year in successive years.

Other 2018 awards for Mohamed Salah include the PFA Players’ Player of the Year, the Football Writers’ Player of the Year and the PFA Fans’ Player of the Year awards. Salah also came third in the award for the 2018 Best FIFA Men’s Player. Apart from his astounding performance at his club, Mohamed Salah scored twice for Egypt at the 2018 world cup in Russia.
