Local transport and logistics company, Modern Coast, has released a statement on an accident that saw a Mombasa-bound bus in head-on collision burnt to the ground on Monday afternoon, December 27.
The accident happened on Monday at the Bendera hotel area, along Kapsabet-Chavakali Highway.
The operator said the bus had left Mumias for Mombasa when the unfortunate incident occurred along the Chavakali-Kapsabet Road.
Vihiga County police commander Benjamin Ong’ombe confirmed the incident. “The incident which happened today afternoon hours according to Kenyan local time, we are happy that no deaths and injuries were reported”, Ong’ombe said at the scene.
Passengers onboard were forced to promptly disembark from the vehicle, for the safety of their lives.
At the scene, the Modern Coast bus and one of the Saloon cars involved in a head-on collision accident were confirmed burnt into ashes.
