The father of late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, famously known as Mohbad “Imole”, Mr. Joseph Aloba has disclosed that he will be releasing an album to honour the memory of his late son who died over four months ago, aged 27.
The album follows Mr. Aloba’s earlier song tribute for his son who died on Tuesday, September 12 in controversial circumstances that sparked public outrage and protests.
At the time of the song release, the grieving father came under heavy criticism for trying to smuggle his way to fame through his son’s sudden death.
Mr. Aloba says his soon-to-be-released album, titled “Itunu”, is a tribute to his musician son. The album is produced by Latsoul Films International.
Mohbad’s death brought his father into the spotlight. However, many fans of the late singer were not pleased with his media outings regarding the incidents surrounding his son’s death.
Joseph Aloba had mentioned that his late son who worked with him at his carpentry shop, served as one of his backup singers at a very young age.
“We always sing whenever we are working as carpenters, and Mohbad is always my backup singer. He does this too at home whenever I sing.
“He was actually backing my music when he was one-year-old. Anytime that I sing, Mohbad would chorus it and he was good at that”.
“I am always the Choirmaster at any Church that I attended, but I was not allowed to bring him into the Choir by the Church, because he was very small, but he was interested in singing”, he recalled fondly.
Mohbad’s death sparked protests in different parts of the country, as Nigerians both within and outside the country demanded #Justice4Mohbad. However, over four months have gone by, and no progressive news has been heard on the matter. No justice yet to be served.
The Police is yet to release any report of late singer’s death probe, over four months later.
