Over 61,700 Palestinians have been reported killed in Israel’s ongoing military actions against the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, according to local authorities. Of the fatalities, 47,487 bodies were recovered, while 14,222 individuals remain missing under the rubble.
The victims include 17,881 children, with 214 being newborn babies, and more than 38,000 children orphaned by the conflict. The violence has also claimed the lives of 1,155 medical personnel, 205 journalists, and 194 civil defense workers. In addition, over 6,000 Palestinians have been detained, with many reportedly tortured to death in detention.

The conflict has caused widespread displacement, with over 2 million Palestinians forced to flee, many relocating multiple times due to the destruction of essential services.
On January 19, 2024, a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement brought a temporary halt to the violence, but the toll on Gaza’s population has been devastating. International legal actions are underway, including a genocide case at the International Court of Justice, and arrest warrants have been issued for Israeli leaders for alleged war crimes.
