More Than 80 Students Abducted in Kebbi School Raid

Not less than 80 students and 5 teachers were abducted on Thursday in an attack on a school in Kebbi State, Northwest Nigeria.

The attack is yet another one in Nigeria’s northwest where bandits reign supreme in a kidnap-for-ransome business which continues to trouble the region’s security.

One policeman was killed in the school as the gunmen attacked and kidnapped students from their classrooms.

The State Police Command says the abducted students and teachers were yet to be released as at Thursday night and the school is currently conducting a roll call to have an understanding of the number of students missing.

The abductors, according to the Police, also shot one of the students during the raid and the student is currently receiving medical attention in a hospital. Most of those abducted were females according to locals in the school.

Shortly after the gunmen ended their raid, shootings and abduction, parents of the students came in a confused state to search for their wards, some of whom were victims of yet another school attack in the country.

More than 800 students have been kidnapped in Nigeria, with recent happenings seen in Kaduna, Katsina and Niger schools.
