Morocco successfully repelled 644 cyber attacks in 2024, the Minister Delegate in charge of the National Defence Administration, Abdellatif Loudiyi, announced during a parliamentary meeting on Friday.
In a statement released by the Moroccan Parliament, Loudiyi detailed the escalating threats targeting the kingdom’s vital infrastructure and outlined the protective measures implemented by the General Directorate of Information Systems Security (DGSSI).
“In light of the escalation of threats and the increase in cyber attacks, the General Directorate of Information Systems Security (DGSSI) implemented in 2024 enhanced protection measures for the security of information systems of vitally important bodies and infrastructures,” the minister stated.
Among the 644 identified cyber attacks, 134 required direct interventions by the Centre for Vigilance, Monitoring and Response to Information Attacks. To bolster cybersecurity resilience, 64 vital electronic and mobile platforms were evaluated and reinforced, while 16 critical vulnerability alerts were issued.
The DGSSI further disseminated 1,050 notifications and 575 security bulletins and executed 25 security interventions across seven agency operations centres to neutralise immediate threats.
The minister did not disclose the origins of the cyber attacks but emphasised Morocco’s commitment to fortifying its cybersecurity capabilities.
