South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) cjampions, Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Pitso Mosimane has told his assistant coach Rulani Mokwena to stay with Sundowns and win trophies.

On Saturday, Sundowns won their tenth PSL title ahead of rivals Kaizer Chiefs by beating Black Leopards on the final day.

Mokwena joined Orlando Pirates as assistant coach and then coach on a caretaker basis before the arrival of Josef Zinnbauer, earlier in the year. He also had a brief spell as head coach at Chippa United before his return to Sundowns before the restart of the PSL.

An excited Mosimane thanked his players and technical staff, and referred to Mokwena as his “angel”.

“I want to thank my entire technical team,” he said. “I said to Rhulani he is an angel, he has got a lot of luck. And I said to him please don’t miss many trophies again, stay where the trophies are.”I want to thank the entire technical team from the analysts to scouts to everybody who supported me during a difficult time.”
Mokwena had his first Sundowns stint in 2014, starting out with the club’s academy, and he was part of the Brazilians coaching staff when the team won the 2016 CAF Champions League.

He became the assistant to Milutin Sredojevic at Orlando Pirates until the coach left his position in August 2019.

The Sundowns now have their eyes on the domestic treble after winning the Telkom Knockout in December and the PSL title on Saturday, they face Bloemfontein Celtic on Tuesday.
