Mozambique’s Health Minister, Dr Armindo Tiago, has tested positive for the deadly coronavirus – COVID-19.
He shows no symptoms and remains physically and mentally well. He admits being infected, but not sick, following a test “carried out as a preparation routine for a trip abroad”.
In compliance with the health protocol issued by MISAU, he is in isolation at home and recommends to all those who had contact with him to carry out the test, ensuring that “relatives and employees of the Ministry of Health” have already been tested.
“In the art and science of medicine the test result could only be known to me. However, as Minister of Health, I understand that I can transform this situation into a learning moment for me and for others”, the director also writes.
“Many of us will have this virus at some point in our lives. Nobody in this world can say that they are immune to the new coronavirus. What we can do is to embrace more strongly the struggle to protect and care for the people who live and work with us.”
