A suspected suicide bombing in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, resulted in the deaths of at least five individuals and left ten others injured.
The incident occurred on Wednesday near a security checkpoint on the bustling Mogadishu-Afgoye highway.
According to Nour Abdirahman, a security official, the attack took place during the morning rush hours and is believed to be a suicide blast.
He also stated that an investigation had been launched to determine the cause of the explosion.
Al Shabab has claimed it is responsible for the attack. The terrorist group has been engaged in a nearly two-decade-long battle to overthrow Somalia’s central government.
