The presenter of anti-crime show Sizokuthola, Xolani Khumalo, has been released on bail after handing himself in, to police in connection with the death of a man during the recording of the show.
Khumalo secured his release on bail in the amount of R20,000 subsequent to his appearance at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. Khumalo had been taken into custody on charges related to murder.
Multiple sources report that Khumalo is implicated in the unfortunate demise of Robert “Kicks” Varrie, an alleged drug dealer. It is alleged that Khumalo and his associates confronted and questioned Varrie at his residence in Katlehong.
Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela relayed the news, stating, “Xolani granted bail. Moja Love’s Sizokuthola host, Xolani Khumalo, has been granted R20,000 bail. Xolani Khumalo is charged with murder following the death of an alleged drug dealer, Robert ‘Kicks’ Varrie.”
Mphela further mentioned that Khumalo voluntarily surrendered himself to the Katlehong North Police Station on Tuesday.
Khumalo’s show, ‘Sizokuthola,’ enjoys widespread popularity on the MojaLOVE channel, where he and his team embark on raids in various drug-affected areas.
In response to the charges, Khumalo’s foundation issued a statement confirming his voluntary surrender “in connection with an incident that occurred at one of the last drug busts.” The foundation expressed its unwavering support for Khumalo, stating, “We trust in the fairness and impartiality of law enforcement. The Foundation, fully believing in Xolani’s innocence, will allow the legal process to run its course.”
The foundation urged the community to offer prayers and solidarity to Khumalo while continuing to support the foundation’s work. It pledged to keep the public informed about any developments in this matter.
