Coach of newly crowned StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions KCCA, Mike Mutebi is still revelling in his team’s title win over the weekend.
KCCA thrashed Maroons FC 6-1 on the final day of the season on Saturday in Kampala to win their 13th title with Patrick Kaddu scoring a brace for the champions.
KCCA finished the 16-club league on top with 66 points, losing 2 games and 9 draws, whilst last season’s champions Vipers finished second with 59 points.
“We are champions because we did better than our opponents this season, remember we had the Total CAF Confederation Cup and the league, and to balance was the most important thing and the squad and the entire staff managed every department well,” an elated Mutebi said.
It was his third title in four years with KCCA who have now closed the gap to 16-time champions, SC Villa, to just three titles.
Besides the trophy, KCCA walked away with Shs60 million prize money and will represent Uganda in next season’s Total CAF Champions League.
Second-placed Vipers earned Shs20 million while third-placed URA will pocket Shs9.6 million.
Meanwhile, Juma Balinya of Police FC finished league top scorer with 19 goals.
