Mzansi Actor Mpho Sebeng Killed in Car Crash

Acclaimed South African actor Mpho Sebeng was killed following a car crash in Potchefstroom, in North West province, South Africa.

Sebang’s family has pleaded with the public for “some space to process the news”.

Sebeng, 30 has been acting for nearly two decades, after making his debut on television at 12 years.

He featured on TV drama Justice For All and Zero Tolerance, which won multiple awards.

He also played a role in the 2011 film Winnie – a story about the life of the late Winnie Mandela.

Sebeng was nominated for Best Male Actor in a telenovela in the 2018 South African Film and Television awards.

On Netflix shows, he starred as Caesar on Miseducation, featured in Saint and Sinners, and Savage Beauty.

State broadcaster SABC said it was “saddened by the untimely passing of the actor”.

“His immense contribution to the entertainment industry will never be forgotten,” it said.

One of his colleagues, Zola Hashatsi mourned Sebeng’s death on social media, saying:

“It is with a sad, deep, and painful heart to announce the passing of a young brother, a friend I took in to replace us when we exited.”
