Following the December 2021 order by Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) to Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to pay entitlements to Gernot Rohr, former Super Eagles coach, Rohr claims that NFF must pay him his unpaid salary plus interest at the going exchange rate.
Following a string of poor performances by the three-time African champion Eagles, the Franco-German was fired from his position as the team’s head coach in December of last year.
Despite efforts by the NFF to continue paying his salary until the end of his contract, which was supposed to expire in December, Rohr, the longest-tenured coach of the Eagles, filed a complaint with FIFA, demanding an additional £1 million for breach of contract “without just cause,” but FIFA approved $377,879.46 (N155 million as of December 2021 and N157 million as of December 2022).
After abruptly terminating his contract, the NFF was instructed by the FIFA players’ status chamber to pay Rohr the money within 45 days. The judgement further said that the NFF would face sanctions if Rohr’s entire payment was not made within 45 days.
The former Bordeaux manager revealed to the media, that he had still not received money from the NFF 85 days after FIFA’s decision.
Rohr claims the NFF have not paid him anything since the FIFA judgement last year.
