The naira experienced a significant decline in value against the dollar in the foreign exchange market, starting the week on a negative note due to a notable decrease in FX supply on Monday.
Data from FMDQ indicated that the naira fell to N1670.65 per dollar on Monday, down from N1600 exchanged last Friday, which reflects a depreciation of N70.65.
In the parallel market, the naira also dropped to N1746 per dollar on Monday, compared to N1740 traded at the end of last week.
This occurrence follows a substantial decline in foreign exchange transaction turnover, which decreased to $81.17 million on Monday from $284.93 million on Friday.
