The naira gained significantly against the dollar at the parallel market on Thursday.
Abubakar Alhassan, a bureau de change operator in Abuja, noted the dollar-to-naira exchange rate closed at N1,735 on Friday, improving from N1,750 on Thursday.
However, in the official market, FMDQ data showed the naira weakened to N1,672.69 on Friday, down from N1,644.86 on Wednesday, marking a N27.83 loss.
Meanwhile, FX turnover dropped to $254.10 million on Friday from $560.34 million the previous day.
Throughout the week, the naira experienced mixed results, with two gains and three losses against the dollar.
On a week-on-week basis, the naira depreciated by N20 compared to last Friday’s official rate of N1,652.62.
