The Nigerian Army hosted a Christian interdenominational church service on Saturday, January 12, to pay tribute to its officers and soldiers who lost their lives in the fight against insurgency and other security challenges across the nation.
The ceremony, held at St. Matthew’s Military Protestant Church, was attended by a large gathering of worshippers, including senior officers (serving and retired), soldiers, and members of the barracks community.
Leading the event was the Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (NASEME), Major General O.O. Arogundade.
The service was part of the commemorative activities for the Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRCD), an annual event dedicated to honouring the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes.
In his remarks following the sermon, Major General Arogundade highlighted the significance of remembering those who gave their lives for the nation’s peace and stability.
He called on NASEME personnel to remain loyal to their oath of service and to approach their duties with unwavering professionalism.
Additionally, he pledged continued support for the families of fallen NASEME soldiers, particularly in ensuring access to education and other essential needs.
The service provided a solemn moment for reflection and appreciation, drawing attention to the immense sacrifices made by the military in safeguarding Nigeria’s unity and security.
