Hassan Jaafar al-Qasir, the son-in-law of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Damascus on Wednesday, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR). Al-Qasir was one of two Lebanese nationals targeted in the attack, which hit an apartment in the Mazze district of the Syrian capital.
The strike comes just days after another Israeli attack in Beirut killed several high-profile figures linked to Hezbollah, including al-Qasir. A source close to Hezbollah confirmed al-Qasir’s death to AFP.
The raid is part of an escalating series of Israeli strikes in Syria and Lebanon, as tensions between Israel and Hezbollah continue to rise. Israel frequently targets Iranian and Hezbollah-linked assets in Syria, citing security threats along its northern border.
