The National Guard General Directorate in Tunisia has dismantled an international network specialised in smuggling migrants from a neighbouring country to Sfax.
In a press release on Sunday evening, the Directorate announced that the network had been decimated by the intelligence units of the National Guard Directorate and the intelligence units of the Intelligence and Research Directorate.
The illegal migrants were housed before setting off to cross the sea borders to the northern shore, the same source stated.
Another set of thirteen immigrants were arrested in one of the houses in the area and they will be charged accordingly, as ordered by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
This success of the operation is a result of meticulous investigative work by the intelligence units of the National Guard in Sfax in its fight against irregular migration.
