Dana Air has commenced the refund process for passengers affected by flight cancellations due to its suspension by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, instructed the NCAA to suspend the airline pending safety and financial audits after a runway incursion incident involving one of its aircraft on Tuesday.
In an official statement on its X account on Wednesday, Dana Air expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to passengers regarding their travel plans due to the suspension.
Passengers are encouraged to email their flight booking details (PNR) and bank account numbers to contact@flydanaair.com to facilitate their refunds.
“In light of the suspension, we understand that you may have concerns regarding your bookings and travel plans. We assure you that we are processing refunds for affected flights over the next month.
“To expedite this process, we kindly request that passengers send their booking details (PNR) and bank account numbers to contact@flydanaair.com,” the statement read in part,” the statement read partly.
Dana Air also reassured its customers that it is collaborating with aviation authorities to address any concerns and work towards resolving the matter regarding the suspension of its operating license.
“Please be rest assured that we are fully cooperating with the Authorities, and we are committed to working closely to address any concerns and address this matter as swiftly as possible,” the statement read.
News Central reported that a Dana Air aircraft skidded off the runway at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos on Tuesday morning.
Following the incident, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) deployed investigators to the site for further investigations.
Dana Air later issued a statement confirming the incident, also adding that the aircraft involved had been grounded.
“We are relieved to confirm that all 83 passengers and crew onboard the flight disembarked safely without injuries or scare as the crew handled the situation with utmost professionalism.”
“We have also updated the AIB and NCAA on the incident and the aircraft involved has been grounded by our maintenance team for further investigation,” the statement read.
