The Nigerian Data Protection Commission (NDPC) and ISACA Abuja Chapter have jointly announced the commencement of the Code4Privacy hackathon 2024 programme, providing a platform for skilled developers and tech enthusiasts to address privacy and data protection challenges in Nigeria.
Themed “Privacy-First Solutions: Integrating Data Privacy by Design,” the hackathon aims to attract individuals passionate about safeguarding user data, encouraging innovators with groundbreaking ideas capable of transforming data privacy practices. Applications opened on December 30, 2023, and are set to close on January 6, 2024.
Participants can anticipate engaging challenges, expert mentorship, networking opportunities, and the chance to win prizes in three categories: gold (N750,000), silver (N500,000), and bronze (N250,000).
The NDPC, tasked with supervising the implementation of the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) introduced by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in 2019, plays a crucial role in safeguarding the privacy of natural persons. The hackathon aligns with its mission to foster innovative solutions for privacy and data protection in the evolving digital landscape.
