Netanyahu Takes Responsibility for October 7 Failure

Netanyahu Takes Responsibility for 7 October Failure

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accepted responsibility for the failure on October 7, stating, “I hold myself and everyone on this. I think we have to examine how it happened. What was the intelligence failure? What was the military failure? We can delve into it, but the important thing right now is to make sure that we don’t have another failure,”

In an interview with Dr. Phil on the Merit+ channel, Netanyahu emphasised the need to examine the intelligence and military failures that led to the incident.

Acknowledging the government’s primary responsibility to protect its people, Netanyahu admitted to failures in ensuring their safety. He stressed the importance of preventing future failures and focusing on achieving ‘victory’ in the ongoing bombardment of Gaza.

Reflecting on his relationship with US President Joe Biden, Netanyahu highlighted their history of both agreements and disagreements, expressing hope for overcoming current tensions. He reiterated Israel’s determination to protect its country and defeat its adversaries.

Looking ahead to post-war efforts, Netanyahu emphasised the need for continuous demilitarisation and rooting out Hamas in Gaza. He suggested the possibility of a civilian administration with the support of countries like the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia to ensure stability and peace in the region.
