President Saied‘s recent ‘power grab,’ according to a seasoned Tunisian politician Najib Chebbi, has prompted the formation of a new alliance to fight it.

The new National Salvation Front, which is made up of five opposition parties, intends to restore democracy in Tunisia, according to Ahmed Nejib Chebbi.

President Saied dismissed the cabinet and suspended parliament in July of last year.

Since then, he has taken control of the courts and granted himself the authority to choose the chairman of the election commission.

Chebbi has asked for the country to be led by a “salvation government” during the transition phase until new elections.

The protesters accused him of attempting to impose one-man rule in the North African country, maintained that they were going to continue demonstrating until the dictatorship is brought to an end.

Some members of the parliament also joined in the protest. Demonstrators were heard changing; “the people want to overthrow the coup.”
