The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is set to officially unveil Éric Sékou Chelle as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles on Monday.
The ceremony will take place at 11 am in the Media Conference Room of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, according to a statement released by the NFF on Sunday.
Chelle, a 47-year-old Franco-Malian, was appointed last Tuesday following a recommendation by the NFF’s Technical and Development Committee.
NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, expressed confidence in Chelle’s ability to lead the team to success.
“We understand Nigerians’ passion for football, and we appeal to everyone to support Coach Chelle as he embarks on this journey,” Gusau said.
Chelle’s first task will be preparing the Super Eagles for the African Nations Championship in East Africa next month. The focus will then shift to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, starting with matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March.
The unveiling event will also introduce Chelle’s coaching staff, who will play a key role in the remaining qualifiers. Chelle brings vast experience, having led Mali’s Aiglons to the brink of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals.
Former Super Eagles striker Victor Ikpeba has urged Nigerians to rally behind Chelle as he begins his tenure.
