The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) and Super Eagles star Ahmed Musa have demanded a thorough investigation into the suspicious death of Nigerian footballer Abubakar Lawal in Uganda.
Lawal, who played for Vipers SC in the Ugandan league, was reported dead on Monday after allegedly falling from a shopping mall.
However, contradictory reports have raised concerns about the true cause of his death.
NiDCOM Chairman Abike Dabiri-Erewa expressed doubts, stating on X:
“This is pathetic and appears suspicious. We demand a thorough investigation. No cover-up at all. This is so sad!”

Ahmed Musa Demands Justice
Former Leicester City player Ahmed Musa also questioned the conflicting reports, urging Nigerian and Ugandan authorities to investigate the case.
“The first report claimed it was an accident; the second said he fell from a balcony. These contradictions suggest something suspicious,” Musa posted on Tuesday.
He called on the Nigerian government and the NFF to work with Ugandan authorities to ensure justice for Lawal.
According to Ugandan police, Lawal was visiting a Tanzanian friend who left him alone shortly before his fall. They have begun retrieving CCTV footage and conducting interrogations to determine the exact circumstances of his tragic death.
