The Minister of Communications, Bosun Tijani, disclosed that the Nigerian Communication Satelite (NIGCOMSAT) Limited doubled its 2023 revenue in the first half of 2024.
Highlighting the current administration’s achievements, Tijani, speaking during an X space, said that the Nigerian satellite, which had been ineffective for years, was now actively raking in revenue for the country.
“Nigeria is the only country in West Africa with its satellite. Historically and unfortunately, the satellite had not been used, but this government is now putting it to good use.”
“The revenue NIGCOMSAT generated from using our satellite is already more than what we generated last year. I think we have already doubled what we generated in 2023.
The Minister stated further that, apart from getting businesses to use it, the satellite is playing a key role in the government’s ongoing project to link all 774 of the country’s local governments to the Internet.
