The Federal High Court in Abuja has sacked Sheriff Oborevwori as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Delta over discrepancies in his certificates.

The State chapter of the PDP has since been thrown into disarray, following the court judgement that declared Oborevwori, unqualified to run for office come 2023.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Taiwo Taiwo, had ruled that the plaintiff, Olorogun David Edevbie, proved beyond reasonable doubt that Oborevwori was unqualified by the discrepancies in his documents.

In his reaction to the judgement, the state chairman of the party, Kingsley Esiso, said he had not read the judgement to know the next line of action to take.

He explained: “I have not read the judgement; you know I’m a lawyer and I need to study it before I can speak on it.

Oborevwori is the incumbent Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, he represents Okpe State Constituency.

On his part, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Delta State chapter, Omene Sobotie, said the judgement was an indication that the APC would certainly win the election.

“My brother, I have not read the True Certified Copy of the judgment, so I cannot speak now but I know that it portrayed winning for the APC,” he said.

Many fans of Oborevwori are currently shocked by a huge blow that hit them sadly from within the party.

The aggrieved party member also asked the court to restrain INEC from receiving or recognising Oborevwori as the duly nominated candidate of the party for the election.

The plaintiff also sought an order to restrain Oborevwori from parading himself as the governorship candidate of the PDP in the state.

The judge held that the suit had merits and accordingly granted the reliefs sought by Edevbie against Oborevwori.
