The Nigeria Air Force (NAF) has destroyed criminal elements in the South East, Niger Delta, and North East regions of the West African country.
A statement by the Nigeria Air Force Public Relations and Information Director, Air Cdre Edward Gabkwet, said the airstrikes were on Friday carried out by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai at a once-deserted terrorists’ hideout near Sambisa Forest, about 1.5km East of Arra, in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Gabkwet added that earlier surveillance had revealed terrorists building up at the location which had formerly been cleared of terrorists’ activities around February.
According to Intelligence, the terrorists fled from the Lake Chad environs after intense bombardment of the areas by the NAF aircraft.
He also added that the successful airstrike dismantled the terrorists’ ability to attack neither innocent civilians nor friendly forces.
Air strikes also targeted the unscrupulous operations of oil thieves in the Niger Delta region which had affected both the environment of the areas and Nigeria’s oil production, the director added.
