Tuesday marked the end of the strike by the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria against Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited over the unjust dismissal of 34 union members.
This was stated in a statement given by Frances Akinjole, the union’s deputy general secretary, on Wednesday in Lagos.
When ATSSSAN shut down MMA2 terminal at the early hours of Tuesday, November 1, there was heavy traffic on the connection road leading to the international terminal.
A number of passengers were forced to miss their flights as a result of the union’s actions, which had an impact on the face-off.
At a meeting in Lagos, the Ministry of Labor & Employment, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, the Federal Airport Authority, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, and other airport security authorities intervened, according to Akinjole, and the union called off the strike.
“The strike that was embarked upon on Nov. 1 against the Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, has been called off pursuant the acceptance by the company to recall the laid off members of our union and an undertaking to pay their salaries.
“The agreement was reached at a meeting empaneled by the Ministry of Labour & Employment, NCAA, FAAN, NAMA and airport security agencies,” he said in the statement.
