Nigeria: Aishatu Dahiru Binani Wins Adamawa APC Governorship Primaries (News Central TV)

Aishatu Dahiru Binani on Wednesday won the Adamawa APC Governorship primaries, defeating former Governor Bindow, Nuhu Ribadu, and former Chairman of Nigeria’s Anti-Graft Agency, EFCC, Nuhu Ribadu.

This is coming after Binani, the only female governorship aspirant in Adamawa state, on the platform of the APC and Senator representing Adamawa Central in the National Assembly, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani, denied rumours that she has stepped down.

The lawmaker made the clarification while addressing delegates and stakeholders of the party separately in Ganye, Jada, Toungo and Mayo-Belwa local governments when she visited the areas last week.

“I have not and will not step down for any candidate,” she said, adding that her desire to contest the exalted position in the state is to bring even development across the state as being witnessed in the Central zone.

Meanwhile, it was reported that two coordinators who work for Binani were nabbed while allegedly sharing humongous amount of money to All Progressives Congress, APC, delegates ahead of the governorship primaries on Thursday night.

Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Wednesday night won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primaries in the State.

The state governor won with a total of 663 of the 668 votes, with five of the votes declared void.

An elated Fintiri appreciated delegates, party leaders and elders at what he described as “a defining moment for our great party in Adamawa State”.

After the impeachment of Adamawa State’s former governor, Admiral Murtala Nyako, in July 2014, Fintiri took over as acting governor for three months before handing over to Bala James Ngilari.

In the early hours of Friday, he was declared the winner of the 2019 by-election after receiving 376,552 votes to defeat incumbent Governor Jibrilla Bindow of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who received 336,386 votes.
