Reports indicate that unknown Assailants have abducted at least 17 people in Ondo and Kwara States.
13 people were kidnapped by the assailants while travelling along Abuja Road in Isua, Ondo State’s Akoko South-East Local Government Area.
On Thursday, it was learned that the victims had been traveling in an 18-passenger bus from Lagos to Abuja when the gunmen assaulted their vehicle.
The assailants whisked the tourists into the bush, according to a source who confirmed the story to journalists in Akure, the state’s capital.
The incident has been reported to the security agents, according to the source, who asked to remain anonymous for security concerns.
“The gunmen waylaid their bus and marched them (victims) into the forest leaving only three of the passengers behind,” he said.
Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force, Amotekun Corps, Army, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) reportedly sprang into action right afterward and saved some of the casualties, according to information obtained.
According to a security guard who did not want his name used, the victims were saved in the Akoko North-East Local Government district’s Ikakumo district. The location of the incident, Isua, is not far from Ikakumo.
