Reports indicate that unknown Assailants have abducted at least 17 people in Ondo and Kwara States.

13 people were kidnapped by the assailants while travelling along Abuja Road in Isua, Ondo State’s Akoko South-East Local Government Area.

On Thursday, it was learned that the victims had been traveling in an 18-passenger bus from Lagos to Abuja when the gunmen assaulted their vehicle.

The assailants whisked the tourists into the bush, according to a source who confirmed the story to journalists in Akure, the state’s capital.

The incident has been reported to the security agents, according to the source, who asked to remain anonymous for security concerns.

“The gunmen waylaid their bus and marched them (victims) into the forest leaving only three of the passengers behind,” he said.

Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force, Amotekun Corps, Army, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) reportedly sprang into action right afterward and saved some of the casualties, according to information obtained.

According to a security guard who did not want his name used, the victims were saved in the Akoko North-East Local Government district’s Ikakumo district. The location of the incident, Isua, is not far from Ikakumo.

According to Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), who confirmed the incident, one of the kidnappers was shot dead when the security personnel engaged them in a gun duel.

Gunmen kidnapped four people in Kwara, including a vigilante from the state’s Asa Local Government.

It was learned that the event took place on Tuesday night in Aboto while some visitors were leaving a naming ceremony to go home.

Hon Aliyu Wahab Opekunle, who represented the district in the 9th Kwara assembly said “Four captives are still with the kidnappers and we have not heard from them yet.”

Okasanmi Ajayi, the state police command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), who also confirmed the occurrence, said the command was on top of the issue to free the abducted victims.
