Assailants on Saturday killed the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, Sylvanus Namang, and one other person.
The incident reportedly transpired at a relaxation center located in Pankshin, which is situated within the Pankshin Local Government Area of the state.
The source reported that on Saturday night, the assailants stormed the location, opened fire at the APC spokesman from a distance, and fatally struck him instantly.
The perpetrators kidnapped the second individual, whose remains were subsequently discovered lairward along a local road.
The party’s Plateau State Chairman, Rufus Bature, verified the demise of Namang.
Bature characterized Namang’s demise as abhorrent and regrettable, stating that it has instigated a period of mourning among the party and his family.
The motivations of the assailants who targeted the party’s publicity secretary while she was at the social center with companions remain unknown.
Alfred Alabo, the Public Relations Officer of the Plateau State Police Command, stated he was in a meeting and unable to respond to inquiries regarding the subject when contacted.
Formerly a journalist, the deceased publicity secretary rose to the position of general manager at Plateau State Publishing Company.
