Nigeria at 64: Governor Yusuf Adopts 95 Orphans in Kano

On Tuesday, October 1, in celebration of Nigeria’s 2024 Independence Day, Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf adopted 95 orphans as part of the commemoration in Kano.

This act of generosity was highlighted during a special lunch with the children, all of whom have been under the care of the state orphanage since losing their parents.

In a statement seen by News Central TV and signed by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Mr. Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf announced his commitment to the orphans’ well-being.

“I want to announce that we have assumed full responsibility for all the 95 orphans residing in this facility. We will take care of their education from primary to tertiary level, healthcare services, feeding, and other social needs throughout my tenure,” the Governor declared.

He further assured that the orphans would be treated with utmost importance and provided with full benefits and privileges for the remainder of his time in office. The Governor emphasized that the state would support the children in reaching their full potential.

This gesture marks the first time in the 54-year history of the orphanage that such an initiative has been undertaken. The Governor spent quality time with the children, offering them hope and care.

“You are now my children; I will take care of you as my own. You will begin to experience the good side of life, in sha Allah,” the Governor promised.

The statement also noted that Governor Yusuf had donated food items worth millions of naira to ensure the welfare, safety, and food security of the orphans.
