BSUTH To Commence Cervical Cancer Treatment

Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) in Makurdi has acquired cytological equipment to initiate the screening and treatment of cervical cancer.

Dr. Stephen Hwande, the Chief Medical Director of BSUTH, announced this development, emphasising the effectiveness of the cytological equipment in addressing cervical cancer at the premalignant stage.

Dr. Hwande also mentioned the restoration of endoscopy, a diagnostic procedure used to identify conditions like ulcers, and announced plans for the first set of in vitro fertilisation (IVF) procedures in March.

Additionally, he provided updates on the management of Lassa fever cases, stating that five individuals were isolated and contact tracing had commenced.
