PVCs- voter cards

Personnel of the 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army recovered 1,671 Permanent Voter Cards PVCs in the Olodi-Apapa area of Lagos State on Wednesday.

This is in the aftermath of a preliminary investigation into an incident that occurred in the area.

Three persons were apprehended in the apartment that housed the voter cards while the main suspect managed to evade arrest. Among the recovered items were ballot papers, charms, daggers, and drugs.

Brig. Gen. Isang Akpaumontia presented the suspects and the seized materials before a gathering of journalists at the Ikeja Cantonment.

He revealed that the arrest and recovery were made possible through a tip-off and the support of the Department of State Services (DSS).

According to Akpaumontia, most of the PVCs had 2022 as their registration year, while others had 2011, 2012, and 2021 as their registration years. All the owners of the recovered PVCs were residents of Lagos State.

In his briefing to journalists, Akpaumontia stated: “Earlier today (Wednesday), three young men were apprehended with 1,671 PVCs. The information that led to their arrest was received early. With the support of the Department of State Services, we were able to detain them.

“They were caught in possession of charms, daggers, drugs, and over 1,000 PVCs. They were found in a house located in the Apapa general area, which we were able to trace. The owner of the house, who is the main suspect, was traced to a hotel. However, he managed to escape.” Akpaumontia
