Musa Ibrahim Abubakar, a former commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, is said to have narrowly evaded an assassination attempt in Nasarawa State, Northcentral Nigeria.
Abubakar, a New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) candidate for the House of Assembly in the Doma South constituency, escaped a gunmen attack after providing supplies to flood victims in his area.
He was ambushed by gunmen believed to be kidnappers on September 21, 2022, as he was returning from Rukubi Town, where he had given aid supplies, including money and other items, to flood victims in Doma LGA.
According to reports, the attackers started shooting at him from several angles before shooting roughly 46 rounds at his automobile.
In the midst of the assault, Ibrahim sped up, lowered his head, and stopped beside the village of Igbabo. He was then found by kind people who helped him escape on a motorcycle and ride 20 kilometres to Doma before taking him to the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH) in Lafia, the state capital.
Three bullets, two AK -47 rounds from his ribcage and one metal ball from his back were taken out of him.
Meanwhile, the police command in Nasarawa has vowed to arrest the gunmen who attacked the former Commissioner.
