A horrific fire has destroyed the renowned Araromi spare parts market on Agodi-Gate in Ibadan, Oyo State, destroying items worth millions of naira.
The fire apparently started at 2 a.m. on Saturday and is still raging as firemen struggle to control it.
Akinyemi Akinyinka, General Manager of Oyo State Fire Services, confirmed the situation and stated that there is a serious fire at Agodi-Gate. Please help us contact water tanker owners for assistance. We are still combating the situation.”
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and investigations are underway.
This marks the latest in a series of recent fire incidents in Ibadan. On Friday, a fire at Ori-Eru, Idikan, claimed the lives of a couple and their grandson, affecting a storey building in the early hours of the morning.
Earlier in the week, a blaze ravaged three shops in Ibadan, with firefighters preventing it from spreading to 13 others.
Additionally, last Friday, a fire broke out during a vigil at a Christ Apostolic Church parish in the Lagelu Local Government Area, reportedly trapping several worshippers inside.
Authorities are urging increased vigilance as the city grapples with these tragic events.
