Super Eagles of Nigeria goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye has signed a long-term deal with Premier League side, Watford.
Okoye, who has made the Nigerian goal his since completing a move to Dutch Eredivisie team, Sparta Rotterdam announced the move on his Instagram account.
“I’m overwhelmed to sign for Watford. To play in the Premier League is something I’ve been dreaming since I was a little boy. I can’t wait to get started with the team upcoming 2022/23 season. I wish the club all the best for the rest of the season. See you soon, ” he wrote.
Okoye, 22, born in Germany to a Nigerian father and German mother played for the youth teams of Bayer Leverkusen and Fortuna Dusseldorf before moving to the Netherlands. He has enjoyed rave reviews in the Eredivisie for his good shot-stopping skills and has cemented his place as the number one goalie in the Nigerian national team.
He was signed for an undisclosed fee and may have been acquired to replace the vastly experienced and much older Ben Foster in the Hornets’ goal.
He has been capped 11 times by the Super Eagles.
