Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has approved the appointment of 109 substantive directors as part of efforts to enhance efficiency and leadership within the state’s civil service.
According to a statement by his media aide, Ismaila Uba-Misili, the Chairperson of the State Civil Service Commission (CSC), Rabi Jimeta, confirmed that the appointments followed a rigorous and merit-based selection process.
She emphasised that only the most qualified officers were chosen to occupy key leadership positions within the service.
Among the newly appointed directors, 23 are from the administrative cadre, while the remaining 86 are drawn from various professional cadres across different Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
Jimeta revealed that a total of 172 deputy directors participated in the selection process, which involved a capacity-building workshop, a written examination, and a computer-based test (CBT).

“The final selection was based on performance, experience, and dedication to duty in line with established civil service regulations,” Jimeta stated.
She urged the newly promoted officers to embrace their roles with renewed commitment, professionalism, and a strong sense of responsibility.
She reminded them that, to whom much is given, much is expected, highlighting that Governor Yahaya’s administration remains committed to civil service reforms aimed at boosting productivity and service delivery.
Jimeta also reiterated the government’s focus on capacity building, merit-based promotions, and digital transformation to modernise the civil service, ensuring it effectively meets the needs of the people of Gombe State.
