In Bauchi State, Northeast Nigeria, gunmen suspected have reportedly killed at least one person and kidnapped three more.
In Boto village, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of the State, locals claimed the incidence occurred on Wednesday.
Ahmed Wakili, a spokesperson for the State Police Command, acknowledged the development and stated that the victims would be freed and returned to their families.
“We got a distress call that gunmen, believed to be kidnappers invaded Boto village.
“The Police Commissioner, Umar Sanda, immediately directed the Divisional Police Officer, Tafawa Balewa Division, to swing into action.
“The DPO mobilised his men and rushed to the village, but the gunmen had left with the victims. Our men are now combing the bushes in pursuit of the criminals. Insha Allah, we will arrest them and bring them to justice”, he said.
Wakili claims that the command is prepared to act immediately once more to free victims who have been kidnapped.
Wakili asked people to cooperate with law enforcement in the fight against insecurity.
On July 11, News Central reported that assailants belonging to infamous bandits lord Damina raided the villages of Kango and Dangulbi in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara on Sunday morning, killing 18 residents.
After the attack, the 18 deceased were buried using Islamic traditions. It is pertinent to mention that Maru Local Government of Zamfara is the epicentre of bandits attack in Zamfara State.
