Nigeria’s Immigration Service (NIS) has reopened the passport application and payment portal.
The Assistant Comptroller for Immigration Service, Amos Okpu, announced that from midnight on Tuesday, June 8, applicants can begin to apply and make payments for the categories of passports of their choice.
The portal was closed earlier on the directives of the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, on May 17.
The suspension was to allow the service to clear all backlogs of applications that had piled up across issuing centres in the past few months.
It was scheduled to reopen on June 1 but got postponed to June 8.
