Early on Tuesday morning, Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) prevented what may have been yet another catastrophic fire disaster near the Synagogue Church in the Oju-Odo neighbourhood of Ikotun.
The Lastma response team was led by traffic officer Demola Muibi “Bravo” (Zone 7), who revealed that a NNPC-branded tanker that was fully filled with petroleum products became hooked and completely blocked the road leading into Ikotun from the Synagogue Church.
He added that after the Lastma team arrived at the scene at 6am, they promptly alerted other major emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, in order to prevent a second huge fire tragedy in and around the Synagogue Church area.
He said; “We managed the situation in such a way to avoid miscreants and hoodlums from tampering with the fuel before the arrival of Police men from Ikotun Police Division.”
This is coming barely 48 hours after emergency responders rescued three victims from a Toyota car, which was trapped under a truck in Ojuelegba, Surulere.
