The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has approved Max Air to resume domestic flight operations following a successful economic and safety audit.
Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, confirmed the development in a statement on Monday.
Max Air voluntarily suspended its domestic operations for 90 days on January 29, 2025, after a series of flight-related incidents. The NCAA welcomed this decision and used the suspension period to review the airline thoroughly.

Achimugu explained that the safety audit, conducted between February 26 and 28, 2025, involved a comprehensive reassessment of Max Air’s organizational structure, operational procedures, personnel, and aircraft. The inspection was carried out in accordance with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023 to ensure compliance with industry safety standards.
“Given the results of the audit, which confirm Max Air’s capacity to sustain safe flight operations, the airline will resume domestic flights, effective from midnight on March 17, 2025,” he said.
He emphasized that the NCAA would maintain strict oversight of Max Air through an enhanced surveillance program to ensure continued compliance with regulatory standards.
