There have been numerous reports of fatalities after an explosion at a crude oil tapping station in a Rivers State community.
The event happened on Friday morning in Rumuekpe, a local government area in Emohua.
Although there has been no official confirmation as of the time of publication, it is believed that there were more than a dozen casualties.
The explosion came from a pipeline tapping point and destroyed automobiles as well. It was learnt that a driver had filled one of the buses with crude oil that was wrapped in bags at the scene.
He started the car’s engine in order to transfer the petroleum product away from the scene, which resulted in a blast. The deceased include the man and others in the area.
