Nigeria and Namibia are moving towards restoring direct flights between the two countries, with discussions underway between Air Peace and the Namibian government.
At the same time, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has urged Namibia to ease visa restrictions for Nigerians by introducing a visa-on-arrival policy.
These issues were part of a meeting between Keyamo and Namibia’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Humphrey Geiseb, in Abuja.
Geiseb confirmed that Namibia is in talks with Air Peace about direct air connectivity, though he did not specify the stage of negotiations. He emphasised Namibia’s willingness to collaborate with Nigerian airlines, highlighting the past role of Air Namibia in linking the two nations before its collapse due to financial difficulties.

Currently, travellers between Nigeria and Namibia must transit through Addis Ababa, as direct options are limited.
Geiseb assured Keyamo that he would engage Namibia’s Aviation Minister to further discussions on strengthening aviation ties.
Keyamo also referenced Nigeria’s Xejet airline, which operates Air Sierra Leone, as a potential partner for Namibia. He urged Namibia to ease visa procedures to boost trade, investment, and travel between both nations.
The two parties agreed to work on revising their Bilateral Air Services Agreement.
