Olumide Akpata, the departing president of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, has stated that anyone discovered to have participated in the theft of phones, the vandalism of conference booths, or the attack of authorities will face legal consequences.

On Thursday, while the NBA Annual General Conference was still taking on, Akpata made this statement. He went on to describe the events surrounding the conference bags’ later distribution at the event.

“No one said we will not encounter difficulties in life but the hall mark is how quickly do we resolve such difficulties.

“Gentlemen of the Bar, I thank you so much. It can only get better”, he said.

Lawyers were captured on camera plundering conference materials and damaging conference booths on a Wednesday viral video.

Since several members of the association were unable to obtain conference bags, they had expressed their displeasure on Tuesday.

Despite regularly visiting the accreditation facility, some of the Lawyers complained about the lack of conference materials, which several delegates said was upsetting them.

Nevertheless, despite the fact that there were many lawyers in line waiting for their bags, the distribution process took a long time.

Later, the lawyers lost patience and launched a charge that the bouncers were unable to stop. As a result, the accreditation center was not only overloaded but also looted and vandalised, with lawyers taking Conference materials with them.

Due to the distribution of conference bags, the lawyers and delegates at the NBA-AGC went mad, plundering other conference materials and trashing registration booths.

Due to the lack of conference bags, lawyers were seen in an internet video smashing registration booths and taking stuff of their choosing.
